2014 PRUDENTIAL U.S. FIGURE SKATING CHAMPIONSHIPS –

The Skating Club of Boston took to the ice and celebrated 100 years of the U.S. Figure Skating Championships and America’s greatest skaters with an opening ceremony paying tribute to The Hero’s Journey.

Featuring breathtaking performances by over 85 performers, including world-class acrobats, dancers and skaters, The Hero’s Journey honored the challenges and triumphs the everyday individual of mythology encounters in becoming a hero, much like that of today’s athlete, who experiences much the same journey in becoming a champion. The Hero’s Journey featured a dramatic and illuminating display of color, costumes and performances celebrating the stories and victories of athletes and their transformative journeys.

Hosted by special guest Nancy Chen of WHDH Channel 7, this very special event was followed immediately by one of the highlight events of the U.S. Championships, the Championship Ladies Short Program. America’s top women figure skaters took to the ice to begin their quest for a spot on Team USA.
